Winter…
How many girls are not complaining about having problems with keeping their lines during this period of the year…? Several holidays, low temperature, few light, everything works against us and forces us to look for energy where we can, and the easiest solution is to increase our daily food portions. I have heard recently a person that was complaining about the extra pounds gained and which has found as solution a new idea “no meat diet”. I am not supporting any animal organization, I don’t have anything against the people who are doing it, everyone is free to support and do as he/she thinks. I support the idea of eating a little bit of everything no matter what are you targets. Although this, in this case we are talking about a new idea that starts to take shape in people’s mind “no meat = lose weight”.
I will dedicate this article to the importance of meat on our nutrition, as I think it is important to know exactly what are you renouncing at.
Meat represents an important source of complete proteins (all essentials amino-acids are present). As our body is made of cells and tissues which contain proteins, this amino-acids are playing an important role for us. Almost half of the proteins from the body are located in the muscles.  Body cells are constantly renewed, but the renewal rate differs from one tissue to another and in order to do this, the body needs protein complete. Being rich in proteins, meat (especially the beef and chicken) and fish are, along with milk, eggs and cheese, the main sources of high biological value proteins. This is what will increase the body’s resistance to the toxic “agressions”, to the infections and entertaining the proper functioning of the nervous system.
The meat has an important role on the good functioning of the body, specially if you are having an actif sportif life, because of this quality proteins and minerals. With all this, the portion remains the secret. It is recommended to eat it once a week or 2,3 times if you are having an actif sport life. In all cases, the dimension of the meat should not exceed a palm measure. The amount varies from person to person, depending on weight,  age,  physical effort.
Apart from protein, meat is a source of vitamins and fat-soluble hydrocarbons. Of fat-soluble vitamins, the most importants are vitamin A,D or K. All are found in large quantities in the liver of the animals/birds, in fish eggs, or in the lungs or kidneys. Meat is an easily digestible source of iron, also containing phosphorus and potassium, but it is low in calcium and magnesium.
All this being said, I am not saying that a life without meat means loosing proteins. I am just trying to underline the fact that renouncing at it in order to lose weight, is the worst decision you can take. On the other hand, I need to mention, that all this protein can be also found in some vegetables or cereals. Where is the difference? None of this ones, has the “whole package”, so for you to take all of them, you will have to increase and diversify as much as possible your veggie plates.
Say yes to health and don’t start a diet before analyzing all the negative impacts that this will have on your body!
Tips:
* The proteins are having an important role for the health of your hair, nails or skin too.
* A very fat meat will have fewer proteins than a light one.
* Beef is effective in building muscle mass and strength because it has a higher content of Creatine than any other food. Creatine is the energy source of the muscles and the one that allows you to train longer and more intensely.
